Who’s That Girl?
Lee Anderson is a self-taught Memphis-based mixed media artist who is completely obsessed with color, texture, and the thrill of transformation. She began with delicate watercolors and fine illustrations, then turned up the volume with bigger canvases, bolder colors, metallics, glitter, embroidery, acrylics, and even spray paint. If it shimmers, shines, or makes the heart skip a beat, Lee Anderson is probably working it into a piece.
Her inspiration comes from everywhere including lush botanicals, high fashion, striking architecture, vibrant textiles, and anything unapologetically beautiful. She is detail oriented to the point of obsession, layering her work until it hums with energy.
Along the way, Lee Anderson has been featured in The Scout Guide magazine, shown her work in a solo exhibition at 20twelve, and joined a group show at Heirloom House. Her paintings have appeared in The Scout Guide magazine and 4Memphis magazine, and she had the honor of painting a memorial wall mural for Johns Hopkins University.
